THE WILL TO DO GOOD IN A SIN RAVAGED WORLD. The great challenge facing the 21st century Christian is based on how to properly situate the law. For many, the law is no longer necessary, they prefer to cling on to grace. But is grace a substitute for the law? I don't think this is true. But what is actually true is that the law gives great power to sin. The truth is that, the law is what reveals sin. For without the law, sin would be like darkness in a lighted environment - it would be hidden. However, the law code had a perfectly legitimate function. Without its clear guidelines for right and wrong, moral behaviour would be mostly guesswork. Apart from the succinct, surgical command, "You shall not covet," I would have dressed covetousness up to look like a virtue and ruined my life with it. It also good to note that the law code started out as an excellent piece of work. What happened, though, was that sin found a way to pervert the command into a temptation, making a piece of "forbidding fruit" out of it. The law code, instead of being used to guide us, was used to seduce us. Without all the paraphernalia of the law code, sin looked pretty dull and lifeless, and we went along without paying much attention to it. But once sin got its hands on the law code and decked itself out in all that finery, we were fooled, and fell for it. The very command that was supposed to guide us into life was cleverly used to trip us up, throwing us headlong. So sin was so much alive, and we were stone cold. But one important truth we must all come to terms with is that, the law code itself is God's good and common sense, each command sane and holy counsel. Romans 7 - Please read and meditate on this scripture. "May you live a life pleasing unto God even as you walk in the grace of God. May the law become natural with you and not something you have to struggle to follow in Jesus name". " May the law of life in Christ Jesus find a parmanent dwelling place in your hearts and mind in Jesus name." Feel free to share products of your meditations with us on the following platforms.
