And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Genesis 2:7-15
But why is there so much poverty mentality in the world today? In this little piece I would try and highlight some of the reasons why people have come to settle with poverty mentality, rather than a wealth consciousness.
1. I AM TOO YOUNG MENTALITY
There is an old saying that "A youth with a single aim in life arrives early at the harvest". The example of Steve Jobs proves that becoming a millionaire before the age of 30 is possible. Paul Getty got his first million at the age of 23. Steven Spielberg, brilliant director of Jaws, Back to the future and ET, became a billionaire when he was only 36 years old!
There are countless examples of people who made their fortunes early in life. Youth must never be considered a drawback. In fact, it is more often than not an asset. Lack of experience can be compensated for by boldness, daring, instinct or originality.
Lack of experience, however does hold many people back.
Everyone is aware of that annoying vicious circle: to get experience you need to have a job; but to get a job you need experience.
But not all employers share this vision of things. Many of them trust young people and are willing to give them a chance. Several companies prefer training their employees themselves and are prepared to overlook their lack of experience.
To all of you wishing to set up your own business but lack experience, history shows that most wealthy men learned as they went along, starting out just as inexperienced as you are now.
